As a leading designer in mobile communication, Research in Motion Ltd. has a large number of shareholders. With the large amount of money from the shareholders, RIM has acquired new software for their product. In a way, the new software acts like a promotion since it is free of charge for all BlackBerry smart phone owners. With the new software, customers will have a stronger urge to buy BlackBerry smart phone over any other smart phone. The new software will be available via download, so no delivery will be required. If the new software is a success, Research in Motion will be collecting a good amount of revenue in their sale of smart phones.
Reflection
With an already great product, RIM’s new BlackBerry Enterprise Server Express will widen the already large gap between BlackBerry smart phones and other smart phone in the market. I think it’s great that BlackBerry owner’s will be receiving this new software for free. I also think it is very generous of RIM to provide the software for free since RIM makes most of their revenue from service fees as stated on page 247 of the financial accounting textbook. Not only do I think that the new software will help promote the purchase of BlackBerry smart phones but provide current BlackBerry smart phone users with a great software. The new software can wireless synchronize email, calendar, contacts, notes, and tasks, manage email folder, search email on the mail server remotely, book meetings and appointments, access files stores on the company and many more. As a leading designer in mobile communications, I can't wait to see what RIM has in store for its consumers.

For many companies, producing a new product is a part of selling activity, espeacially for electronic businesses. Having a new product is kind of advertising, at the same time, it is also a part of acquistion of inventory. Corporiatings like Apple or Microsoft rely on their newest systems or machines to compete with each other. Having a new something means that the company has more technologies than others. For example, when Apple introduced their new products called Ipods, everybody loved it. Now, almost everyone has one. Companies can make a prediction about their revenue, but they can use this prediction in the book no matter how accurate and precise this prediction is.

This new investment of Research in Motion Ltd., BlackBerry Enterprise Server Express, is a great product that worth while to invest in. It is because this new software will make BlackBerry better than any other smart phones, so a lot of people would buy it. Once the results are great, a lot of investors will interested in investing in RIM. In that case, RIM can expand their business more in the near future.

Another great software produced by Blackberry! This is a very handy software that targets all businessmen around the world. It provides convience because it allowed employees to use their phone top connect with their work email. This also creates serious competition for between the Apple iPhone and the Blackberry smartphone. I think Blackberry should attempt to target the youth community, which they lack at compared to the iphone, so they can have more financial success.
ReplyDeleteI think this is great example of a great action taken in a cash-cash cycle. Blackberry is quickly rising in the technology world and its pace is ever increasing. This new software allows employees to connect with their work email which will attract many businesses aroudn the world. The ability of Research in Motion to create new attractive products while maintaing a reasonable budget makes it a good target stock and a future powerhouse in the technology world, if not already one.
